As part of efforts to eradicate informal housing and rehabilitate the urban area, local authorities supervised the demolition of the shanty enclave of the Ain Ameer roundabout, under the supervision of the head of the Ain Ameer Administrative Annex, Zahim Abdel Rahim, and with an intensive security escort.

The operation went smoothly under tight security, resulting in the demolition of 20 shanty units and more than 15 informal structures, including illegal sheds and sheds. To ensure that the operation was carried out in safe conditions, 30 members of the National Security and 40 members of the Auxiliary Forces were mobilized.

It is noteworthy that the Ain Omeir roundabout was home to more than 70 residents, and was categorized as one of the most difficult shanty enclaves to raid and uproot.

This operation comes in the context of the local authorities’ plan to eliminate slums and improve living conditions, within the framework of a development vision aimed at providing decent housing alternatives for the affected population.
