Members of the National Group of Doctorates in National Education have issued a statement condemning the stagnation of their demands and calling on the ministry for a comprehensive solution while rejecting the examination process. They announced a national strike to be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, across all educational institutions and educational administrations, along with a warning sit-in in front of the Ministry of National Education.
On Sunday, January 12, 2025, the members held a meeting in Rabat to discuss the latest developments regarding their file. After extensive discussions, they concluded that the resolution of the file concerning the Ministry of National Education’s doctorates is experiencing unjustified stagnation, given the numerous irregularities surrounding this matter. The meeting resulted in a demand for a comprehensive solution that includes changing the status of all doctorates to “Research Professor” unconditionally, as well as distributing them to academies, higher centers, and regional research centers.
They also called on the ministry and the government to implement the agreement of January 18, 2022, which stipulates a comprehensive solution. They pointed out that the calculation of positions announced in last November’s budget law for 2025 represents a clear evasion and violation of the agreement made with the most representative unions, further exacerbating tensions within the educational system.
Additionally, they demanded that the ministry establish a special statutory framework for doctorates in national education within the Ministry of National Education that guarantees their rights similarly to those of distinguished teachers.
In conclusion, the National Group of Doctorates in National Education calls on the ministry to support their national strike on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, along with a warning sit-in starting at 11 AM in front of the Ministry of National Education. They also urge all national bodies to support their demands.
