Moroccan Police Arrest Five Individuals in Drug Trafficking Operations in Meknes and Kenitra

As part of the Moroccan authorities’ ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crimes, police forces in Meknes and Kenitra arrested five individuals, aged between 22 and 32, on Monday morning, January 13. The arrests were made based on precise information provided by the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST).

The first operation took place in Kenitra, where three individuals were detained as they arrived in a utility vehicle coming from one of the northern cities of Morocco. A search of the vehicle uncovered 2,070 tablets of narcotic drugs, a quantity of cocaine, and a sum of money suspected to be the proceeds from criminal activity. In the second operation, which took place in Meknes, two individuals were arrested at the city’s entrance in a light vehicle, and 1,680 tablets of narcotics were found in their possession.

The suspects have been placed under judicial investigation under the supervision of the relevant public prosecutors to uncover the full circumstances of the cases and trace their potential criminal connections. These operations are part of a broader strategy aimed at eliminating the illegal drug and psychoactive substances trade and reducing its impact on community security.

These security operations highlight the effectiveness of cooperation between various national security services and demonstrate the government’s commitment to tackling organized crime with determination to protect society and strengthen citizens’ sense of safety.
