Paris Saint-Germain clinched the French Super Cup title for the 48th edition after defeating AS Monaco 1-0 in a match held in Doha, Qatar, on Sunday evening. The game took place at Stadium 974, one of the venues that hosted matches during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The only goal of the match came in stoppage time, with French star Ousmane Dembélé scoring the winning goal in the 92nd minute following a precise pass from his teammate Fabián Ruiz. Despite numerous attempts by PSG throughout the match to find the net, they needed this late goal to secure their victory.
With this triumph, Paris Saint-Germain achieved their third consecutive Super Cup title, bringing their total to 13 in the club’s history, solidifying their position as the most successful team in this competition.
On the other hand, Monaco suffered their third consecutive defeat against Paris Saint-Germain, having lost in the finals of 2017 and 2018, leaving them with only four Super Cup titles to their name.
Paris Saint-Germain had previously won the French league title last season, setting up this final against Monaco, who finished as league runners-up, in a match filled with excitement and drama.
