Leader of the Authenticity and Modernity Party: “We Are Not in a Boxing Ring but in a Discussion on the Family Code”

Ms. Iman Azzizou, a member of the Political Bureau of the Authenticity and Modernity Party, expressed her views on the ongoing discussion surrounding the Family Code project, emphasizing that this dialogue is not akin to a sports match or a boxing ring.

In her statement, Azzizou stressed the importance of discussing the main outlines of the proposed code, noting that everyone has the right to express their opinion without resorting to takfir (excommunication) or exercising any form of guardianship.

She explained that the proposed reforms aim to enhance the economic and social stability of Moroccan families, underscoring the need to explore the significance of these reforms.

Azzizou also warned against attempts to divide opinions into two camps: “pro-reform against religion” and “pro-religion against reform,” asserting that such division is misguided. She emphasized that all Moroccans, both men and women, aspire to build a developed Morocco where families (men, women, and children) remain cohesive while upholding religious and moral values, all while being open to various cultures.

She concluded by stating that in the end, the true winner is the Moroccan family, which represents the foundation of society and deserves all support and development.
