In preparation for the New Year’s Eve celebrations of 2025, the Meknes Police Prefecture has deployed a comprehensive security plan to ensure the safety of citizens and the smooth running of festivities in the Ismaili capital. All available human and logistical resources have been mobilized to cover the city’s vital points.
In a meeting preceding the deployment of security units, the Prefect of Police in Meknes, Sadek Tarchouli, confirmed that the prefecture has taken a series of preventive measures as part of well-crafted plans prepared during previous meetings with the participation of all concerned services. He pointed out that the city of Meknes has witnessed extensive security operations in recent months to combat crime and acts that threaten citizens’ security, resulting in the arrest of a large number of wanted persons and those involved in various cases.
Tarchouli explained that the General Directorate of National Security recently provided the Meknes Police Prefecture with modern and well-equipped police vehicles to meet citizens’ needs. For the New Year’s occasion, the city has been divided into geographical areas, with a security unit assigned to each area responsible for ensuring its safety.
Mobile units have also been deployed across all sectors, with security measures in place for the city’s hotels, reinforcement of existing police checkpoints at city entrances, and strengthening of traffic teams. This intensive security deployment aims to ensure a safe New Year’s celebration and enhance citizens’ sense of security, thereby increasing their trust in the police force.
With these heightened security measures, the authorities in Meknes seek to provide a safe and comfortable celebratory atmosphere for both citizens and visitors, while maintaining public order and ensuring a smooth transition into the new year 2025.
