During the Third National Car Rental Conference, held in Fes on December 25, 2024, at the Marriott Hotel, Dr. Mohamed Jamal Matouq delivered an important address touching on several issues related to the car rental sector and its impact on the national economy. Dr. Matouq explained that dealing with checks as collateral could create fictitious funds, negatively impacting the national economy. He further pointed out that car rental agencies should carefully inspect vehicles before handing them over to ensure their proper condition.
Dr. Matouq also discussed the importance of enhancing financial transparency in transactions between companies and clients. He highlighted that some agencies manipulate the amounts paid by customers and exploit their lack of knowledge regarding various insurance policies. He called for the development of new mechanisms to handle financial guarantees in line with existing laws and regulations, warning against practices that could harm the sector’s reputation.
