On the evening of December 27, 2024, Fes witnessed a terrifying incident when a fire broke out near the Sidi Boujida Bridge, next to Café Reda, caused by an electrical short circuit in deteriorating power lines. The fire caused panic among local residents, who immediately reported the incident. Fortunately, civil protection forces intervened promptly, managing to control the fire before it spread to nearby areas, preventing a potentially catastrophic outcome.
National police officers arrived at the scene to secure the area and initiate an investigation to determine the precise cause of the fire. Local residents expressed their frustration over the poor state of the electrical infrastructure, highlighting that previous complaints about the danger posed by the aging wires had gone unanswered, despite being a daily threat to both their lives and property.
