Urgent Call for Protest from the Civil Retirees Organization of Morocco

The Civil Retirees Organization of Morocco has issued an urgent call for participation in a protest scheduled for Sunday, January 5, 2025, in front of Parliament, starting at 11:00 AM. This call comes in response to the government’s decision to implement a comprehensive tax exemption affecting less than 4% of retirees’ pensions, which the organization considers a failed attempt to deceive more than 96% of this group.

Who is Invited

  • Active employees, workers, and staff
  • All political parties and unions
  • Anyone who believes in human rights and dignity
  • Various media platforms

Reasons for Protest

  • Pensions insufficient to cover basic expenses amid continuous price increases
  • Lack of health coverage and social services for a dignified life
  • Complete exclusion and marginalization, with no utilization of retirees’ expertise
  • Frequent changes in pension systems causing instability in their lives

Key Demands

  1. Cancellation of the tax exemption and implementation of urgent pension increases proportional to the cost of living
  2. Provision of comprehensive health coverage and integrated social services for all retirees and beneficiaries
  3. Ensuring pension system stability and protection from sudden changes
  4. Including retirees as essential stakeholders in all social dialogue
  5. Updating laws to guarantee dignified living conditions

Additional Objectives

  • Achieving social justice as citizens who contributed to the nation’s development

The organization emphasizes that collective voice is the strongest weapon for achieving legitimate demands, and unity and solidarity are the path to creating real change and ensuring a dignified life and better future for coming generations.

The organization has established WhatsApp contact numbers to receive comments and suggestions regarding their joint struggle program and awaits active participation from all concerned parties.
