Reliable press sources have revealed that a civil society organization is considering filing a lawsuit against the Moroccan state, accusing it of violating Law 31/08, which requires authorities to ensure the availability of medicines in markets for at least three months.
The same sources reported that this legal action comes in the wake of deteriorating health conditions of numerous patients suffering from heart disease, kidney problems, and other chronic illnesses, due to the severe shortage of their essential medications in pharmacies for several months.
According to available information, many patients’ lives have become directly threatened due to serious health complications resulting from their inability to take necessary medications that have disappeared from pharmacy shelves.
It is worth noting that this case highlights the medication crisis the kingdom is experiencing and raises serious questions about the extent to which relevant authorities are complying with healthcare sector regulations and ensuring citizens’ right to access essential medicines.
