In an effort to preserve the Atlas Cedar Biosphere Reserve, the National Agency for Water and Forests is hosting a special event on November 19-20 in Ifrane, in collaboration with the NGO “Living Planet Morocco.”
The event aims to strengthen cooperation among Moroccan environmental organizations active in the region by fostering the exchange of successful experiences and practices. It seeks to establish a shared vision and values framework for the protection of this unique biosphere reserve. This initiative underscores the role of civil society in promoting best practices in sustainable development, ecotourism, and environmental education.
Participants will include representatives from government agencies, the Ifrane National Park, the Eastern High Atlas National Park, and the Khénifra National Park.
The discussions will focus on the theme, “Sustainable Tourism in the Atlas Cedar Biosphere: Challenges and Opportunities.” The event will feature a variety of case studies on ecotourism, such as recreational fishing, wildlife observation, water sports, and horseback riding.
This initiative reflects Morocco’s dedication to safeguarding its natural heritage and promoting sustainable development, ensuring that the Atlas Cedar forests remain a vital environmental and cultural legacy for future generations.
