The Criminal Chamber of the Rabat Court of First Instance has issued prison sentences against three defendants in a case involving the exploitation of a minor under 12 years old through social media platforms.
The court sentenced a YouTuber to four years in prison, while the child’s mother received a one-year prison sentence, and a third accomplice was sentenced to six months in prison. The court also imposed a fine of 5,000 dirhams each on both the mother and the third accomplice.
The defendants were charged with human trafficking and exploiting a minor with limited discernment through live broadcasts on TikTok, YouTube, and Skype. Investigations conducted by Rabat’s judicial police revealed that the defendants were receiving money from citizens and residents in a Gulf state, including Moroccans.
The investigation showed that the YouTuber took advantage of the victim’s young age and immaturity to lure her to his home, with the help of her mother, who was known for frequently traveling to Gulf countries. Multiple video recordings of the victim were found on the YouTuber’s channel, confirming the extent of this crime
