The Moroccan Initiative for Support and Advocacy, affiliated with the Justice and Development Party, organized a protest on Sunday near the Tanger Med Port, opposing the docking of the “Maersk Denver” vessel, owned by Danish shipping company Maersk Line.
Informed sources revealed to “Assahifa” that the vessel, which departed from the Port of New York, is heading to the Port of Salalah in Oman, and made a technical stop on Friday night at the container terminal in Tanger Med Port.
These protests come amid widespread controversy over the ship’s destination, with Tanger Med Port denying claims that the vessel is carrying weapons shipments. Maersk Line had previously denied reports suggesting the ship was heading to Israel’s Port of Haifa.
It’s worth noting that the “Maersk Denver” is a massive container ship flying the American flag and operated by one of the world’s largest maritime shipping companies. Its stop at the Moroccan port has sparked debate and discussion amid current regional circumstances.
