Moroccan Ministry of Health Launches National Campaign for Seasonal Flu Vaccination

In an important initiative to curb the spread of seasonal flu and other respiratory diseases, Morocco’s Ministry of Health and Social Protection launched the national vaccination campaign against seasonal influenza on November 7, 2024.

Under the slogan “Seasonal Flu: Get Vaccinated and Follow Preventive Measures,” the campaign aims to raise public awareness about the significance of vaccination and necessary preventive actions to minimize infections.

Running throughout the autumn and winter seasons periods marked by a higher prevalence of respiratory viruses, including seasonal flu and COVID-19 the campaign emphasizes the importance of vaccination, particularly for high-risk groups such as pregnant women, children under five, the elderly, and individuals with chronic conditions.

Seasonal influenza is an acute viral infection that affects the respiratory system and can cause symptoms that may initially seem mild but can develop into serious, life-threatening complications, especially for vulnerable individuals. Health experts highlight vaccination as the most effective means to reduce virus transmission and alleviate symptoms.

In addition to vaccination, the Ministry of Health is urging citizens to follow simple preventive measures, including regular hand washing, covering the nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing using a tissue or elbow, and wearing masks when feeling unwell. Social distancing and ventilating enclosed spaces are also recommended to lower infection risk.

Through this campaign, the Ministry aims to protect public health and prevent excessive strain on the healthcare system during the winter months. The Ministry underscores that vaccination, coupled with preventive measures, is essential for respiratory illness prevention and ensuring a safe and healthy winter.
