United Airlines Launches First Direct Flight from North America to Marrakech

United Airlines has inaugurated a new direct air route connecting North America to the Moroccan city of Marrakech, marking a historic step as the first airline to offer this direct service.

During the inaugural flight ceremony, United’s executive Patrick Kue announced that the airline plans to operate approximately 4,700 daily flights worldwide during the winter season, noting that the company leads U.S. airlines in terms of seats, flights, and destinations.

Kue added that the company currently serves more transatlantic destinations than all American airlines combined, with Marrakech being its fifth destination in Africa. He explained that in 2019, the company had no flights to Africa before launching routes to Cape Town, followed by Johannesburg, Accra, Lagos, a second flight to Cape Town from Washington, and now Marrakech.

The executive revealed that the company will launch flights to Kara in May, becoming its sixth African destination in its network, making it the fastest-growing airline in North America.

As part of its social responsibility initiatives, the company announced its partnership with the non-profit “Soor” project, which aims to empower local girls in Morocco. The airline donated educational materials, sports equipment, and 50 iPads for educational workshops.
