Heavy Rains Hit Taza Region: School Collapse and Loss of Life

In a tragic development, heavy rainfall in the Taza region of Morocco has caused significant material damage and loss of life. The situation has led to the suspension of classes at a primary school after a partial collapse.

According to reports, a primary school in the Oulad Chrif commune suffered a partial collapse, affecting two classrooms, due to the heavy rainfall. This incident has sparked outrage among parents, who are calling on the Ministry of National Education to intervene urgently to find solutions for the students who have been left without a school. The parents have also criticized the poor quality of the infrastructure, which they believe requires a complete overhaul.

In a separate tragic incident, flooding caused by heavy rainfall in the Taza region resulted in the loss of two lives in the Tayfa commune on Sunday. According to information from Le Site Info, the bodies of the victims, both in their sixties, were recovered by the Civil Defense and Royal Gendarmerie after they were swept away by the waters while sleeping in their homes, which also suffered significant material damage.

These events highlight the urgent need to improve the region’s infrastructure and prepare for natural disasters. Local authorities remain on high alert as forecasts predict continued rainfall in the coming days.
