Morocco Plans New Highway Connecting Fez to Marrakech via Khenifra

Informed sources have revealed an ambitious project to construct a new highway linking the cities of Fez and Marrakech via Khenifra and Beni Mellal, in a move that aims to enhance regional connectivity and stimulate economic growth in the Kingdom of Morocco.

The sources reported that technical field studies for this vital project will begin soon. The study will be conducted in two phases: the first covering the section between Beni Mellal and Khenifra, and the second covering the route between Khenifra, Meknes, and Fez.

This massive project aims to connect several major cities in the kingdom, including Fez, Meknes, Beni Mellal, and Marrakech, which will significantly reduce travel time and boost tourism and trade between these important cities.

The project, which had faced some slowdown and hesitation in studies over the past years, has received a strong push with Morocco’s preparations to host the 2030 World Cup. The kingdom is seeking to develop its infrastructure in preparation for this major global event.

In a related context, sources indicated that Morocco is planning to implement many other infrastructure projects, including railway and highway projects, in preparation for the 2030 World Cup.

This project is expected to have a significant positive impact on the economic and social development of the regions it will pass through, as well as improving connectivity between different parts of the kingdom.

This step confirms Morocco’s commitment to developing its transportation network and enhancing the country’s infrastructure, which strengthens its position as an attractive tourist and investment destination in the region.
