New York – As part of the activities of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the corridors of the international headquarters in New York witnessed important diplomatic meetings for the Malian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Abdoulaye Diop.
Diplomatic sources reported that Minister Diop held separate meetings with his counterparts from the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Kingdom of Morocco on the sidelines of the General Assembly.
In the first meeting, the Malian minister discussed with Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Egypt’s Foreign Minister, ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries. In another meeting, Diop met with Mr. Nasser Bourita, the Moroccan Foreign Minister, to discuss aspects of mutual cooperation.
An informed source stated that the talks were characterized by a fraternal and positive atmosphere, focusing primarily on topics of enhancing friendship relations and bilateral cooperation between Mali and both Egypt and Morocco. The discussions also addressed regional and international issues of common interest.
The source added that the meetings also dealt with ways to coordinate positions on issues on the agenda of the UN General Assembly, serving the interests of the three countries and the African continent in general.
It is worth noting that these meetings come within the framework of Mali’s diplomatic efforts to strengthen its relations with Arab and African countries, and as a confirmation of the importance of cooperation and coordination in facing common regional and international challenges.
At the conclusion of the meetings, the three ministers emphasized the importance of continuing consultation and coordination between their countries in various international forums, in order to achieve common interests and support development and stability efforts in the region.
