Moroccan authorities have announced the arrest of six individuals, including a minor, suspected of spreading misleading information that incites illegal immigration. This came as part of a coordinated security operation carried out by the Provincial Judicial Police Service in Tetouan in collaboration with the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance on Saturday, August 31.
An official statement explained that the suspects, aged between 16 and 31, had been publishing digital content claiming preparations for breaching the security fence between Fnideq and Ceuta, inciting social media users to engage in illegal immigration.
These posts were detected by the National Security’s cyber vigilance services, leading to intensive investigations that resulted in identifying and arresting the suspects in several Moroccan cities, including Tetouan, Casablanca, and Tangier.
The source confirmed that investigations are still ongoing under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, aiming to uncover the true motives behind these acts and arrest the remaining individuals involved in spreading this misleading information.
This operation comes as part of the ongoing efforts by Moroccan authorities to combat illegal immigration networks and human trafficking, affirming their commitment to addressing these phenomena that pose a threat to national and regional security.
