Rabat – In a notable diplomatic gesture, His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco has sent a message of sympathy and solidarity to former U.S. President Donald Trump, following a failed assassination attempt on Saturday during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
In his message, the Moroccan monarch expressed his shock and deep sadness over the “appalling assassination attempt” that occurred during the campaign event. His Majesty added that he was relieved to learn that Trump was safe and unharmed.
King Mohammed VI strongly condemned political violence, wishing Trump “a speedy recovery so that you may continue to serve your great nation.”
The King concluded his message saying, “My thoughts and prayers are with you, Mr. President, your family, and the innocent victims of this deplorable act.”
This message comes within the framework of strong diplomatic relations between Morocco and the United States, reflecting the kingdom’s firm stance against political violence and all forms of terrorism.
It is worth noting that U.S. authorities have opened a comprehensive investigation into the incident, while sources close to Trump confirmed that he is recovering well and intends to continue his election campaign in the coming days.
