Aziz Akhannouch, Head of Government, received on Thursday, in the presence of Fatima Zahra Amor, Minister of Tourism, Traditional Industry, Social Economy and Solidarity, Sebastien Bazin, President and General Manager of Accor Group, specialized in the field of tourist accommodation.
The meeting was an opportunity to discuss investment opportunities and strengthen Accor’s presence in Morocco, in accordance with the objectives of the Tourism Roadmap 2023-2026, which aims to increase the capacity of hotels in preparation for the hosting of the 2030 World Cup.
The Prime Minister emphasized that these international events will contribute to a profound and sustainable transformation of the tourism sector in Morocco.
During the meeting, according to a press release, a copy of which is available to Fes News, the measures taken by the Kingdom to boost the tourism sector were emphasized. Morocco achieved a record 14.5 million tourists in 2023, and the first half of 2024 recorded 7.4 million tourists, an increase of 909,000 tourists over the same period last year. This reflects the continuous investment in tourism infrastructure, as 135 new hotel units were opened in 2023, strategically distributed throughout the Kingdom.
Sébastien Bazin reiterated his confidence in Morocco’s tourism potential, expressing Accor’s desire to intensify its presence and investments in the Kingdom, to keep pace with the tourism boom and contribute to the preparations for the upcoming major events.
To achieve this goal, Accor plans to adopt a two-pronged strategy: Introducing new and innovative brands to the Moroccan market and strengthening existing brands.
