BERLIN – The Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance of Morocco, Abdellatif Hamouchi, paid a three-day working visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, from 24 to 26 June 2024, with the aim of strengthening security cooperation between the two countries.
Informed sources reported that the visit, which came at the official invitation of the German side, witnessed a series of intensive meetings with senior German security officials.
During his visit, Hammouchi met with Dieter Roman, head of the German Federal Police, and Holger Mensch, head of the Federal Criminal Police Office, where talks focused on ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of combating terrorism and transnational organised crime.
This visit reflects the depth of security relations between Morocco and Germany and emphasises the importance of joint coordination in the face of contemporary security challenges.”
The talks also included an exchange of views on security issues of common interest, as well as a comprehensive assessment of the outcome of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the security field.
Cooperation with Morocco is a key pillar of Germany’s security strategy in North Africa and the Middle East.
The sources pointed out that the visit also witnessed discussions on the exchange of expertise in the fields of training and developing security capabilities, in addition to exploring the possibilities of expanding the scope of cooperation to include new areas.
The two sides look forward to translating the results of this visit into practical steps that enhance the capabilities of the two countries to face common security challenges.
