Seoul, South Korea – The historic first Korea-Africa Summit kicked off today in Seoul, under the theme “The Future We Build Together: Shared Growth, Sustainability and Solidarity.”
His Majesty King Mohammed VI, King of Morocco, is being represented at the summit by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami.
More than 45 African countries are participating in the summit, which was initiated by Korean President Yoon Suk-Yeol. The summit is a platform for discussing ways to strengthen cooperation between Africa and Korea, particularly in the areas of economics, energy, and digital technology.
The two-day summit aims to establish a foundation for strong cooperation between the two continents. The summit comes after South Korea announced the “Korea-Africa Development Cooperation Initiative” in 2006, which embodies Seoul’s commitment to sharing its development expertise and experiences with African countries.
The summit is expected to result in the signing of numerous agreements and memoranda of understanding in various fields, which will contribute to strengthening cooperation between Africa and Korea and achieving sustainable development for both continents.
Morocco’s participation in the summit is significant, given the distinguished relations between the Kingdom and the Republic of Korea, and the historical relations between Africa and Korea. Through its participation, Morocco seeks to strengthen South-South cooperation, exchange experiences with African countries, and launch joint development projects with South Korea.
There is no doubt that the holding of the first Korea-Africa Summit is a historic event that will contribute to strengthening relations between the two continents and open up new horizons for cooperation and trade exchange.
