On May 20, 2024, the governorate of Ifrane celebrated the 19th anniversary of the National Initiative for Human Development, under the slogan “The first 1000 days are the foundation of our children’s future”.
This communication meeting, which was held in the Great Hall of the Municipality, aimed to review the achievements made in the field of maternal and child health in response to the royal directives, and to highlight the importance of the first three years of a child’s life and its lasting impact on the health and future well-being of the rising generations.
During the meeting, detailed presentations were made on the outcome of the implementation and achievement of NHDI programs and projects for the third phase (2019-2023), where 516 projects and activities were approved with a total budget of 144.54 million dirhams, including 133.17 million dirhams as a contribution from the initiative, and 10.435 million dirhams allocated to the women and children axis.
In a special statement to Fes News, a senior official at the Evran Regional Municipality confirmed that this communication meeting with all partners involved in the National Initiative in the Evran region was dedicated to presenting the outcome of the work of the regional committee of the National Initiative during the period from 2019 to 2023, with a focus on support for the development of human capital in its axis: Maternal and Child Health, and highlighted the importance of the integrated approach in achieving these achievements.
The meeting witnessed a presentation by the Regional Director of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection on the importance of the first 1,000 days of a child’s life, which immediately follows the day of birth.
The governor of Ifrane region then headed to the maternity home of the 20 August Regional Hospital in Azrou, where he was briefed on a number of works carried out within the framework of the National Initiative for Human Development, and distributed gifts to newborns in the hospital, in a gesture that reflects the initiative’s commitment to support maternal and child health.
