اعتمدت رسميا الأمم المتحدة بشكل رسمي يوم الــ 10 ماي من كل عام يوما عالميا لشجرة أركان.

وصوتت كل من ألمانيا و الولايات المتحدة و كندا و ابريطانيا و إسرائيل و إسبانيا و جنوب أفريقيا و هولندا و السويد لصالح القرار، بينما امتنعت الجزائر.
