Authorities tighten controls to prevent Ramadan rations from being used for electoral agendas

In preparation for the upcoming 2026 legislative elections, the Ministry of Interior has issued strict instructions to governors and workers to tighten control over the distribution of food aid, especially during Ramadan and Eid al-Adha, to prevent it from being exploited in early election campaigns.

According to central reports, according to Al-Sabah newspaper, there are fears that suspicious electoral funds will be used to finance the distribution of “Ramadan Gafa” operations, as some political actors seek to attract voters through illegal means.

In this context, the authorities emphasized the need to impose strict control over all stages of aid distribution, from supply to beneficiaries, with a comprehensive audit of the supplier companies and approved points of sale, and will examine the order books for supplying warehouses with basic materials, such as flour, sugar, tea, dates, wheat, pasta, and tomato concentrate, to ensure that this aid is not directed for electoral purposes.

Through these measures, the Ministry of Interior seeks to enshrine the principle of transparency in the distribution of humanitarian aid, and to ensure that the support reaches the deserving groups away from any political exploitation, in a move aimed at enhancing the integrity of the electoral process and maintaining the balance of the political scene.
