The provisions of Law 43.22 concerning alternative sentences will soon be implemented within the timelines set by the law, affirmed Justice Minister Abdellatif Ouahbi on Monday in Rabat.
In response to oral questions in the House of Representatives regarding the application of this law, the minister indicated that three thematic commissions have been formed in accordance with recommendations made during a meeting chaired by the Head of Government.
The first commission is tasked with the legal implementation of the alternative sentencing system, the second will develop regulatory texts, while the third will focus on selecting the contracting company.
As part of the measures taken to implement this law, training sessions have been organized in partnership with the judiciary for judges, with the minister noting that his department has provided detailed explanations to all concerned parties.
Additionally, offices have been established in first-instance courts to better integrate new technologies into electronic bracelets, as well as to develop a practical guide on alternative sentences and enhance communication with government departments to identify areas for community service for individuals sentenced to alternative penalties.
The ministry is also considering creating an electronic portal that includes all this information, allowing judges to choose appropriate community service based on the residence of those sentenced.
