Inzegan: Investigation Launched into Physical Assault on Police Officer While on Duty

The judicial police in the regional security area of Inzegan have opened a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office on Tuesday, January 14, to determine the circumstances and details surrounding a physical assault on a police officer holding the rank of security officer while performing his duties, which resulted in the loss of function of a body part and permanent disability.

Preliminary data indicate that one of the police patrols was attempting to arrest the suspect, who is the subject of a national search warrant for involvement in a traffic accident with a hit-and-run offense. When he refused to comply, he fled in his vehicle, causing serious injury to the police officer who tried to prevent him from escaping, resulting in the amputation of part of his finger.

In response, the Director General of National Security issued instructions to health services affiliated with the national police and the Agadir Security Directorate to monitor the health condition of the injured officer, including covering his medical expenses and providing necessary psychological and social support.

Meanwhile, intensive security operations continue to apprehend the suspect and subject him to investigation overseen by the competent public prosecutor’s office, aimed at determining all criminal acts attributed to him.
