Moroccan Police Arrest Turkish National at Casablanca Airport on International Warrant

As part of international security cooperation, the Moroccan National Police at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca arrested a 32-year-old Turkish citizen on Sunday evening, January 12, 2025, based on an international arrest warrant issued by the Turkish judicial authorities.

The arrest occurred after the individual arrived on a flight from Tunisia. A check against the INTERPOL database revealed that he was wanted internationally at the request of Turkey. The arrest was made to execute a prison sentence for his involvement in armed terrorist activities, which requires his extradition to Turkey under international judicial cooperation.

After completing the arrest procedures, the suspect was placed under provisional detention pending the transfer of his case to the competent public prosecutor. The INTERPOL office in Rabat has been tasked with notifying Turkish authorities of the developments, in preparation for the extradition process.
