In a press conference held on December 17, Abdellatif Jouahri, Governor of Bank Al-Maghrib, emphasized that financial support should only be allocated for exceptional circumstances that require immediate intervention and additional resources, with a clearly defined time frame. Jouahri explained that long-term support is inappropriate, as it could lead to dependency among beneficiaries, resulting in their reluctance to seek job opportunities or actively participate in the economy.
Jouahri pointed out that prolonged financial assistance could diminish individual incentives for beneficiaries, leading them to avoid available job opportunities. He stressed the importance of directing support towards specific, temporary situations, ensuring it concludes after a set period to prevent it from becoming a burden on the national budget.
Regarding employment, Jouahri stressed that the primary responsibility for creating job opportunities lies with the private sector and private enterprises, which contribute positively to the national economy. While public institutions can play a role in this area, the private sector has the largest responsibility in driving economic growth and providing sustainable employment.
Jouahri also mentioned that he had not yet received the final report from the Court of Auditors, noting that he was still reviewing its details and recommendations related to the national budget and ways to improve the national economy.
In conclusion, Jouahri emphasized that any government support should be flexible and focused on temporary solutions, enabling society and the economy to transition toward a phase of sustainability and self-reliance.
