As part of efforts to enhance the health sector in the Taza region, the Budget, Finance, and Programming Committee held a meeting on Monday, December 9, 2024, chaired by Mr. Adel Al-Bakhchouch, with the presence of members Mr. Mohamed Boudas, Mr. Redouane Zrioul, Mr. Said Daho, and advisory member Mr. Ayoub Abu Hafs, along with Ms. Samira Al-Mansouri, a representative from the Taza Municipality.
The meeting was dedicated to discussing and approving a partnership agreement aimed at strengthening regional health institutions with the necessary human resources to address the shortage of medical staff. This reflects the committee’s response to local residents’ longstanding calls for improved health services and ensuring their accessibility to all.
In his remarks, Mr. Adel Al-Bakhchouch highlighted that this agreement comes in the context of addressing the challenges facing the health sector in the region, particularly the acute shortage of medical professionals. He noted that the agreement would contribute to providing the necessary healthcare staff, ensuring the continuity of basic services in regional health institutions. Al-Bakhchouch emphasized that the project specifically targets the needs of health centers in the region, including the emergency services at the Taza Regional Hospital.
During discussions, it was confirmed that the total annual financial allocation for implementing the agreement’s provisions amounts to approximately 3.65 million dirhams, to be funded by several partners, most notably the Taza Municipality, which will contribute 122,000 dirhams. Additionally, the Taza Doctors Association will provide the necessary medical staff to address the sector’s needs in health centers and the regional hospital.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the committee expressed its initial approval of the agreement’s provisions, urging the council to deepen discussions on its details during the next session to monitor the project’s progress and ensure its successful implementation.
