Moroccan Team “NexTech” Wins Gold Medal at World Robot Olympiad in Turkey

The Moroccan team “NexTech” has achieved a remarkable success by winning the gold medal at the World Robot Olympiad (WRO), held in Izmir, Turkey, from November 28 to 30, 2024. The team secured fourth place in the “Future Innovators Senior” category, outperforming hundreds of teams from around the world.

This victory is the culmination of extensive preparation and innovation, as the team qualified through a national competition that involved 65 teams from various regions of Morocco. With this achievement, “NexTech” strengthens Morocco’s position on the global map of technological innovation and highlights the capabilities of Moroccan youth in the fields of science and technology.

The team’s project, named “Terra Genius,” addresses significant challenges in sustainable agriculture. The robot designed for this project integrates advanced technologies for seed planting, monitoring growth, and efficiently performing irrigation tasks, offering technological solutions to many environmental and agricultural challenges faced globally.

In a statement during the competition, Zineb Al-Omrani, one of the team members, explained that their goal was to use technology to serve sustainable agriculture, reflecting their desire to provide innovative solutions to environmental and economic challenges.

This achievement is the result of great efforts from various Moroccan teams, as the country was represented by five diverse teams in this global event, under the theme “Allies of the Planet.” This competition brought teams together to compete in technological innovation and sustainable development solutions.

This award underscores Morocco’s ongoing commitment to supporting innovation and technological entrepreneurship and affirms the ability of Moroccan youth to excel on the global stage.
