Mohamed Aouzal, the former president of Raja Sports Club, was referred Tuesday evening to the King’s Prosecutor at the First Instance Court in Casablanca, where he was detained on serious charges of fraud and breach of trust.
The judicial police arrested the former football official, known as “the Sage”, and presented him to the public prosecution, which issued an order to imprison him in the local Ain Sebaa prison.
The charges focus on financial irregularities in his insurance and insurance brokerage company. One insurance company accuses him of failing to fulfill obligations under a 2006 agreement, demanding he pay a sum of around 4 million dirhams.
The public prosecution has also issued an arrest warrant for Mohamed Aouzal’s son, who is also a manager in the family company. It is worth noting that the African Consulting and Insurance Brokerage Company (ACECA) was placed in judicial liquidation in May 2023, after its license was withdrawn by the Insurance and Social Forecasts Control Authority.
