Over 1,200 Taxi Operators in Morocco Announce Their Disassociation from Unions

More than 1,200 taxi operators from various Moroccan cities announced during a meeting held recently at one of the largest cinema halls in Meknes that they are disassociating themselves from the unions that claim to represent the taxi sector in dialogues with the state. This decision was made due to what has been described as a conflict of interests between the two parties amid the reforms taking place in the investment field within the taxi sector, both first and second class.

In this context, Abdel Samad Belhout, president of the Taxi Operators Association in Meknes, which organized this meeting, stated in an interview with “Al-Masa” newspaper that the outcomes of this meeting, which was held in conjunction with the celebrations of November 6 to commemorate the Green March, aim primarily to officially announce the severance of the national relationship between taxi operators and the unions associated with the sector. The meeting witnessed significant participation from operators who came from various Moroccan cities.
