A fire broke out this Thursday morning in the Atlas Tower in downtown Casablanca. The flames ravaged an entire floor and spread to other levels, as can be seen in the video attached.
The fire started around 6:45 am on the 12th floor of the Atlas Tower, located on the Mohammed V Avenue in Casablanca. The fire caused significant material damage, but there were no casualties. The affected floor is occupied by employees of the Central Insurance Company (SCR), a subsidiary of the Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion (CDG).
According to employees of the company who spoke to H24Info, the security guards alerted the firefighters, who rushed to the scene and were able to completely bring the fire under control around 9 am. For now, the causes of the incident have not yet been determined, according to the same sources.
After the authorities’ intervention, activities resumed their normal course in the building. On the other hand, the Central Insurance Company (SCR) has transferred its employees to other sites, including the one in Mohammedia, to ensure continuity of activity.
In a statement, the SCR explained that this fire broke out on a floor not occupied by employees and did not affect any critical space. “We want to reassure all our employees, partners, and clients that business continuity is fully guaranteed and the situation is under control,” the company stressed.
The necessary measures and arrangements have also been taken for the safety of everyone with a view to a quick resumption on the site. “We would like to thank all the authorities for their exemplary mobilization and professionalism,” the SCR concluded.
