During a parliamentary session, Rim Chabat delivered a strong critique of the Moroccan government, led by Aziz Akhannouch, highlighting its perceived failure to address pressing economic and social issues. Chabat pointed out that the government has “only succeeded in exporting youth” abroad through dangerous migration routes, alluding to a reality where the country’s educated professionals teachers, doctors, and engineers are increasingly leaving due to limited opportunities for a decent life in Morocco.
Chabat questioned the remaining hopes for unemployed youth amid the lack of a clear plan for job creation. She argued that the government lacks a genuine vision for empowering young people and skilled professionals, focusing instead on importing basic goods, such as meat and fish, which she claimed exacerbates the nation’s economic challenges.
Emphasizing the rising cost of living, Chabat noted that citizens are struggling with increased prices and a deteriorating standard of living, while the government seems indifferent to their suffering and more focused on its own interests. She highlighted that current policies do not align with citizens’ aspirations, nor prioritize their needs, leading to a significant decline in purchasing power.
In closing, Chabat called on the government to take serious and effective steps to meet the demands of the people, stressing the need for responsibility and responsiveness to citizens’ aspirations for improved economic and social conditions.
