National Security Thwarts Drug Trafficking Operations in Casablanca and Fes, Arrests Five Suspects

In coordinated efforts with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), the National Security forces successfully conducted a series of operations on Wednesday, October 2, resulting in the arrest of five individuals in the cities of Casablanca and Fes.

The suspects are believed to be involved in the possession and distribution of large quantities of illegal substances, including psychotropic pills and cannabis resin.

The first operation took place in Casablanca, where two individuals traveling in a utility vehicle from one of the northern cities were apprehended.

Authorities seized 6,690 “Rivotril” pills, indicating that the drugs were intended for distribution in the city.

In Fes, security forces arrested a nationally wanted fugitive with a history of criminal offenses.

The suspect was found in possession of two kilograms of cannabis resin, two electronic scales, bladed weapons, and a sum of money suspected to be proceeds from illegal activities.

In a simultaneous operation, police intercepted a cargo truck on a road leading to Meknes.

The driver and his companion were caught with 1,350 “Zepam” pills, suspected to be part of a drug trafficking operation.

The detainees are currently under investigation, with supervision from the relevant public prosecutors. Authorities aim to identify all individuals and networks involved in these criminal activities and continue their efforts to dismantle the larger trafficking operations behind them.

These operations are part of the ongoing efforts by National Security to strengthen the fight against drug trafficking and minimize its harmful effects on society.
