A recent incident in Fez has sparked widespread outrage among residents, as waste collection bins displayed a sticker featuring the logo of the historic Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque, a revered religious and cultural symbol.
This move was perceived by the public as an insult to the mosque, one of the most important religious and historical landmarks in Morocco.
The decision has led to a wave of criticism directed at the Fez City Council, which has been held accountable for mishandling the situation and failing to appreciate the significance of the mosque as a symbol of religious and cultural heritage.
Citizens expressed their anger on social media and in public spaces, calling for the immediate removal of the stickers and demanding an apology for what they consider a disrespectful act toward one of the city’s most iconic Islamic monuments.
