Local authorities in Tata Province announced a tragic incident that occurred on Friday as a result of severe thunderstorms, leading to unprecedented flooding.
The incident involved a passenger bus being swept away by floodwaters in the Tata River, resulting in the death of two individuals, while 13 others were rescued and 14 passengers remain missing.
Additionally, the source reported one case of a missing woman in the Igourten area of the Takzmirte municipality. The heavy rainfall caused a significant rise in the water levels of various waterways, with the Tata River reaching a flow rate of 2,300 cubic meters per second and the Zkide River at 1,900 cubic meters per second.
In terms of material damage, many areas have been affected, including the complete or partial collapse of several homes from which residents had been evacuated earlier.
Additionally, numerous infrastructure facilities were damaged, and traffic was disrupted on several roads.
