The National Railway Office (ONCF) has recently launched a tender for conducting preliminary design studies for the railway line that will connect the city of Oued Zem to the Beni Mellal province.
According to the tender announcement published on the Office’s website, these studies will include the doubling and rectification of the track between Khouribga and Oued Zem, as well as the construction of engineering works to replace the level crossings between Sidi el Aidi and Oued Zem.
Based on ONCF’s data, the estimated cost for carrying out these preliminary studies is around 38 million dirhams, while the bid opening will take place in Rabat on September 19th.
The launch of these studies follows a recent meeting between the Wali (Governor) of the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region, Khatib El Hebil, and the Director General of the National Railway Office to discuss a set of issues related to the implementation of the railway line that will connect Beni Mellal to Casablanca via the Khouribga province.
Considered a flagship project for the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region, this railway line will have very positive socio-economic impacts on the region and its inhabitants, in addition to its key role in shortening the distances between the region and the cities of Casablanca and Rabat.
