The Regional Directorate of Health and Social Protection in Beni Mellal Khenifra provided, in a press release on Thursday, important clarifications regarding the deaths recorded at the Beni Mellal Regional Hospital Center.
The clarifications come after news spread that sudden deaths were recorded in the hospital as a result of the high temperatures observed in the recent period.
An immediate investigation was opened by the competent authorities to reveal the causes of these deaths, as the results showed that of the 21 deaths recorded on July 24, 2024, 17 cases were inside the hospital, while 4 cases were recorded outside the hospital walls, the majority of the cases were people suffering from chronic diseases and the elderly, as the high temperatures caused their health condition to worsen and thus their death.
The regional directorate calls on citizens to exercise caution during periods of hot weather, and emphasizes the need to consult health experts for the necessary guidance.
At the end of its statement, the Directorate emphasized its full readiness to provide the media with the necessary information to educate the public and avoid the recurrence of such incidents in the future.
The Directorate remains closely monitoring the situation and continues to cooperate with all concerned parties to ensure the safety of citizens in the region.
