Princess Lalla Zainab chairs the general assembly of the Moroccan League for the Protection of Children

Her Highness Princess Lalla Zainab chaired, on Tuesday in Rabat, the general assembly meeting of the Moroccan League for the Protection of Children. The meeting saw the presentation of the literary and financial reports for 2023, the work programme for 2024-2025, and the report of the auditor.

In her opening speech, Princess Lalla Zainab highlighted the main achievements made in favour of children deprived of a family during the past year, praising the continuous efforts of the League’s members in strengthening the protection mechanisms for these children and improving their care conditions. Her Highness also expressed her gratitude to partners and donors for their continued support for the League’s projects and programmes.

Following the discussions, members of the General Assembly unanimously approved the literary and financial reports and accounts as of 31 December 2023. Several resolutions and recommendations were also approved, including

Approval of the League’s budget for 2024
Adoption of the work programme for 2024-2025
Approval of the agreements signed with partners
Standardising financial and accounting procedures at the regional level
Organising training courses to develop the skills of the League’s staff
Development of financial resources and rationalisation of expenditures
As part of the Extraordinary General Assembly meeting, Princess Lalla Zainab chaired a discussion on the amendment of the League’s statutes, which unanimously approved the creation of regional coordinators for the League across the Kingdom.

The year 2023 saw the establishment of new reception centres in Oujda, Tangier, Madiq, El Jadida and Ouarzazate, as well as the follow-up of the construction and renovation of other centres in several cities, in line with the royal directives to universalise social protection and guarantee the basic rights of children in vulnerable situations, according to the League’s communiqué.

The meeting concluded with the reading of a cable of allegiance to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, emphasising the League’s commitment to continue its efforts in the service and protection of Moroccan children.
