Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan presides over the closing ceremony of the Hassan II Prize for Traditional Horsemanship in Rabat

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan presided Sunday afternoon in Rabat over the closing ceremony of the Hassan II Prize at the 23rd edition of the Moroccan Championship of Traditional Equestrian Arts (Taboureda).

The Grand Prix was held at the Royal Equestrian and Taboureda Complex in Dar es Salaam, from 27 May to 2 June, under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

Upon arrival at the Royal Equestrian and Taboureda Complex Dar es Salaam, HH The Crown Prince was welcomed by Moulay Abdallah Alaoui, President of the Royal Moroccan Equestrian University. After the Crown Prince was saluted by a contingent of the Royal Guard, Chakib Benmoussa, Minister of National Education, Primary Education and Sports, Mohamed Siddiqui, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forestry, and Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, greeted HH The Crown Prince.

Fayssal Larraichi, President of the Moroccan National Olympic Committee, Mohamed Yacoubi, Governor of the Rabat-Salé-Quneitra region, members of the Royal Moroccan Equestrian University’s Bureau, celebrities, and a number of other personalities also greeted HH The Amir.

Under the applause of the crowd, the Crown Prince headed to the Tent of Honour, where he watched the final of the Hassan II Prize for Traditional Equestrian Arts.

At the end of the event, organised under the auspices of the Royal Moroccan Equestrian University, the Crown Prince handed the gold medal in the adult category to the squadron of the Casablanca-Settat region (Barchid Municipality), led by Lieutenant Colonel Rachid Sakkas. The silver medal went to the squadron of Lieutenant Colonel Cherif El Bahraoui of the Marrakech-Asfi region (Marrakech Municipality), while the bronze medal went to the squadron of the Beni Mellal-Khneifra region (Beni Mellal Municipality), led by Lieutenant Colonel Abdelghani Benkheda.

The Crown Prince also handed over the gold medal in the youth category to the squadron of the Casablanca-Settat region, led by Lieutenant Colonel Badr Zariza for the Municipality of Medeouna, led by Lieutenant Colonel Badr Zariza. The squadron of the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region, led by Lieutenant Colonel Mohamed Gharbou of Beni Mellal, won the silver medal, while the squadron of the East region (Taourirt municipality), led by Lieutenant Colonel Youssef Al Sobibi, won the bronze medal.

At the end of the ceremony, the crowned riders in the adult and youth categories were photographed with Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan.

The competition programme assessed the performance of the squadron’s riders under the leadership of the Lieutenant Colonel, including group motor coordination, discipline, rifle and shot coordination, uniformity of clothing and saddles. The programme also took into account the degree of communication and control of the horse, the riding style, and the general appearance of the rider and the horse, according to criteria set by the judges of the Royal Moroccan Equestrian University.
