Bab Ceuta: French/Algerian national arrested for international drug trafficking

Tetouan, Morocco – A 28-year-old French national of Algerian origin was arrested at the Bab Ceuta centre for his involvement in cases related to international drug trafficking.

According to a statement issued by the General Directorate of National Security, the suspect was arrested while leaving the national territory, after a check of the wanted persons database showed that he was the subject of a red notice issued by the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol), at the request of the French judicial authorities.

The suspect, who is suspected of involvement in an international drug trafficking network, was taken into custody under the supervision of the Public Prosecution in Tetouan, pending his presentation to the competent judicial authorities to decide on his extradition to the French judicial authorities.

This arrest is part of the intensive security efforts undertaken by the General Directorate of National Security to combat the phenomenon of drugs, by strengthening international cooperation with various countries, tightening border controls and carrying out pre-emptive security operations to arrest traffickers and drug dealers.

This arrest also illustrates the importance of international cooperation in the fight against organised crime, as the exchange of information and the coordination of security efforts between Morocco and France contributed to the arrest of the suspect and bringing him to justice.
