In a move to enhance security and achieve social stability, the Royal Gendarmerie in Bensouda carried out a preemptive campaign against gambling on Thursday, April 5, 2024, where they managed to apprehend 16 individuals engaged in illegal gambling activities in an abandoned house in the Ain Echqef area.
Under the command of the center’s leader, the operation took place in the early hours of the morning, with the forces seizing the culprits and confiscating cash and gambling paraphernalia. Additionally, organizers of these illegal activities were identified and apprehended, with around 16 unlicensed motorcycles seized.
This security intervention comes as part of a comprehensive campaign aimed at combating crime and ensuring the safety of citizens, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, which witnesses an increase in gambling activities and security violations. These efforts aim to achieve security, stability, and preserve community safety.
Moreover, the exacerbation of the gambling phenomenon during Ramadan has negatively affected some families, with some being displaced due to the negligence of individuals engaging in these illegal activities.
It is worth noting that the security campaign has garnered praise from local residents, who have expressed their appreciation for the security efforts made to combat crime and ensure security and stability in the region.
