The mausoleum of Sultan Moulay Ismail in Meknes hosted a solemn religious ceremony last Friday in tribute to the late sultans and kings of the revered Alaouite dynasty, the ancestors of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful.
This annual ceremony, held on the night following Laylat al-Qadr, serves to honor the memory of the Alaouite rulers and highlight their significant historical contributions to the foundation and stability of the Moroccan state.
The event was presided over by Mohammed Saad Eddine Smires, an official from the Royal Chamber, in the presence of the Governor of Meknes Prefecture, Abdelghani Sbbar, along with elected officials, local authorities, and heads of external services.
The ceremony featured the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and the chanting of prophetic praises in a spiritual atmosphere that reflects the deep-rooted religious traditions of Morocco.
At the conclusion of the event, prayers were offered for the protection and long life of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, as well as for Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, Prince Moulay Rachid, and the entire royal family.
Attendees also prayed for the late kings Mohammed V and Hassan II, asking for God’s mercy upon them in recognition of their great sacrifices for the nation and the Moroccan people.
