Arab Countries Announce First Day of Eid al-Fitr to be Sunday

Several Arab countries announced on Saturday evening that Sunday will be the first day of Eid al-Fitr for the year 1446 AH, following the confirmed sighting of the crescent moon of Shawwal.1

In Saudi Arabia, the Royal Court announced that the Supreme Court had confirmed the sighting of the crescent moon, and therefore, Sunday is the first day of Eid.2 Similarly, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Yemen, Bahrain, Sudan, Lebanon, and Palestine also announced that Eid will be on Sunday.3

These announcements came after the crescent moon was sighted by the relevant religious committees in these countries, which confirmed the sighting according to Islamic law.4

On this occasion, these countries extend their warmest congratulations and blessings to the Muslim Ummah, praying that Allah accepts everyone’s good deeds and returns this joyous occasion to the Muslim Ummah with goodness, prosperity, and blessings.5
