During the seminar organized by the Al-Faqih Tétouani Foundation yesterday, President of Parliament, Rashid Talbi Alami, addressed the improvements that will be seen in Morocco’s education system, particularly with regard to teacher salary increases. Talbi provided a detailed explanation of the key points outlined in the electoral program of the National Rally of Independents Party, focusing on health, education, and employment as the top priorities demanded by Moroccan citizens.
Talbi explained that the salary increase for teachers, initially set at 2500 dirhams, will rise to 7000 dirhams per month in the near future as part of the government’s efforts to improve the living conditions of educators. He noted that the original program aimed to provide increases for 80,000 teachers but emphasized that the benefit will be extended to all teachers across various education levels. He also mentioned that negotiations with unions and protests were part of this reform process.
In his remarks, Talbi stressed that reforming the education system has become an urgent necessity. He pointed out that it is unsustainable to continue with the current situation where teachers face overcrowded classrooms, which negatively impacts the quality of education. He added that the salary increase is a critical step in motivating teachers and supporting them in improving the quality of education in Morocco.
Regarding education reforms, Talbi emphasized the need to keep pace with global developments, asserting that Morocco must prepare a generation of youth capable of making an international impact. He referred to Morocco’s vision for 2050 and 2060, which requires a fundamental change in how education is approached. He argued that Morocco needs to train students in a variety of fields, including humanities, geography, history, and philosophy, alongside technological advancements such as artificial intelligence.
Talbi also discussed a future vision for Morocco’s economic and diplomatic development, stating, “We need to prepare a generation capable of influencing international institutions like NASA and other global entities.” He pointed out that the steps taken by the party in terms of public investment, including appointing Moroccan engineers to government positions, reflect the party’s focus on harnessing the potential of Moroccan talent both at home and abroad.
In conclusion, Talbi underscored that the success of education reform is integral to building a strong future for Morocco. He believed that Morocco has great opportunities at both the regional and international levels and that educational reforms will be the foundation for achieving these ambitions. He added, “Education is not just a political issue; it is a national issue that requires all of us to work diligently to ensure its sustainability and meet the aspirations of future generations.”
Throughout his speech, Talbi highlighted the important role of education in stimulating the national economy, noting that educational curricula must align with global challenges to ensure success in the future.
