Fes-Meknes Region Council Launches Major Projects: New Passenger Stations in Meknes and Azrou Underway!

The Fes-Meknes Region Council, during its latest session, approved amendments to two agreements related to the establishment of passenger stations in Meknes and Azrou, aimed at enhancing transportation infrastructure and improving intercity travel services.

The first amendment pertains to the agreement for the construction of the passenger station in Meknes, which was initially approved in the council’s regular session of March 2024. With this amendment, the task of executing the project has been assigned to the Al Omrane Fes-Meknes company, while the Toulal Municipality will handle the acquisition of the land for the project.

The agreement involves several parties, including the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Directorate General of Local Authorities, the Fes-Meknes Region Council, the Regional Directorate of Meknes, the Meknes Municipality, the Toulal Municipality, and Al Omrane Company. The total cost of the project is 100 million dirhams, with the region contributing 30 million dirhams, while the remaining 70 million dirhams will be covered by the other partners.

Similarly, the council also approved an amendment to the agreement for the construction of a new road station in Azrou, in the Ifrane province, in partnership with the Ministry of Interior, the region council, the Fes-Meknes region’s provincial administration, the Ifrane provincial administration, and the Ifrane Provincial Council. The total cost of this project is 30 million dirhams, with the region contributing one-third of the amount, or 10 million dirhams.

These two projects are part of ongoing efforts to enhance transportation infrastructure and improve the quality of services provided to travelers, aligning with the urban and economic development needs of the region.
