Driver Arrested for Assaulting Traffic Police Officer in Tangier

Police officers in the Tangier Security Prefecture arrested a 40-year-old user transport vehicle driver on Thursday, March 27th, on suspicion of his involvement in a case related to non-compliance and physical assault on a police officer while performing his duties in public.

The Tangier Security Prefecture reacted with great seriousness to a video clip posted on social media pages, documenting a vehicle driver’s non-compliance and deliberate physical and verbal assault on a police officer while regulating traffic flow at a city intersection.

Investigations conducted based on the video revealed that the incident involved a senior police officer working for the mobile emergency police unit in Tangier, who was subjected to physical violence and non-compliance by a user transport vehicle driver on Wednesday, March 26th, while intervening to ensure smooth traffic flow at a city roundabout.

Search and investigation procedures led to the identification and arrest of the driver involved in the assault, and he was placed in custody for further investigation under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecutor’s Office, to determine all criminal acts attributed to him.
